Quebec City and Montreal July 7 to 11/ 2004

Quebec City – Montreal July 7-11, 2004

This summer we went to Quebec City, a beautiful place where the war was. The long drive took 8 ½ hours. We took a lot of bathroom breaks and I read two Tintin books on the way. Once we got to Quebec, I saw that the car license plates said “Je me souviens”.

In Quebec City, we saw tons of horses and the city was beautiful. We went to Best Western which was not as nice as Arizona’s Best Western. We were tired after the long drive so we went to bed early.

The next day was a rainy day. We had breakfast at a revolving restaurant on top of a tall building, just like the one on top of the CN Tower, but not as high. However, it was foggy and the view of the city was not good.

After that we went to see the St. Lawrence River but on the way we passed by a painting on a wall that looked so real. Then we went to the bridge where the St. Lawrence River was and we got there by a kind of car called Funicular. We went up tons of stairs to see the St. Lawrence River and it was beautiful. We also saw the historic Chateau Frontenac which is a hotel.

After lunch we went to the Museum of Civilization which did not allow cameras. We got a parking ticket for parking too long. We went back to Best Western and could not go swimming because it was too crowded at the pool. So we just went to bed.

The next morning we woke up early to catch the changing of the guards at the Citadel de Quebec. This is an everyday event when guards switch with each other. Then we started to drive to Montreal. On the way we took pictures of Montmorency Falls and visited St.- Anne de Beaupre Basilica.

Once we got to Montreal, we went to a big church called Notre Dame Basilica but was closed. So instead, we went on a horse carriage ride to see the city of Montreal. We saw the Bank of Montreal’s headquarter and other expensive hotels. After that we hanged around and watched a magic show. We looked for a hotel to stay and we went to Delta Hotel to spend the night.

On the last day in Montreal, we went to the biggest church in the world called St. Joseph. This was where Celine Dione got married. We prayed for Alex to get better so that she would not have to wear her body brace anymore.

Then we drove home to Toronto. I had a great time in Quebec and I probably will have a fun time when I go to Quebec again in Grade 7.
